Talk to your friends over the noise.
The real app: join a public group nearby, then talk with your own crew, holding the button or with Open Mic. More demos
TalkGroup turns your AirPods into a walkie-talkie for loud places. Hold to talk, and everyone in your group hears you. Or try the optional chat feature. No cell service, no accounts, and Wi-Fi is optional.
Start talking in seconds
Make or join a group
Tap phones together to join, or scan a friend’s QR code. Tapping works on iPhone 11 and newer. Everyone has to be close by.
Put in your AirPods
Your voice goes straight to your friends’ ears, even when the music is loud.
Hold to talk
Press the button, speak, let go. It works like a walkie-talkie.
Built for places where nothing else works
No signal needed
Phones connect directly to each other, so it works in a packed venue or a basement with no bars.
No accounts
No sign-up, no email, no phone number. Pick a name and go.
No servers
Your voice goes between the phones in your group and nowhere else.
Groups that clean up after themselves
A group disappears an hour after nobody from it is nearby. Keep your favorites with a one-time upgrade.
Made for places where signal gives up
- Concerts and festivalsWhen thousands of phones crowd the same cell towers, messages stall.
- Clubs and barsSomeone's at the bar, someone's on the dance floor, someone's in the bathroom line.
- Skiing and snowboardingSkip the gloves-off texting on the chairlift.
- Staff radio on your Wi-FiKitchen to floor, stockroom to register.

Questions
Does TalkGroup need cell service or Wi-Fi?
No. Phones in your group connect directly to each other. If everyone is on the same Wi-Fi network it can use that too, but it never needs it.
How far apart can we be?
Not far. Phones talk directly, so plan on about 50 feet (15 meters) at most, like the same section of a venue. Crowds, walls, and steel shorten it. TalkGroup is for keeping in touch with friends close by, not across a park. On the same Wi-Fi network, you can talk anywhere that network reaches. Its internet doesn’t have to work: TalkGroup only uses the Wi-Fi itself.
How many people can be in a group?
Up to 8 phones per group. You can be in several groups and switch between them.
Do I need AirPods?
They work best, especially AirPods Pro and other AirPods with noise cancellation, so you hear your friends over the noise. Other headphones work too.
Which iPhones does it work on?
iPhones with iOS 17 or later. Joining by tapping phones together needs iPhone 11 or newer. Any iPhone can join by scanning a QR code.
Is it free?
Yes. Making groups and talking are free. Optional one-time upgrades keep your groups forever and add text chat.
Is it private?
There are no accounts and no servers. Your voice and messages go only between the phones in your group, encrypted, and are not recorded.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. TalkGroup is for iPhone.
When does it come out?
Soon. Join the launch list and we will email you once, when it is on the App Store.
